Whats in a name?
(double post)
What is it inside us that wants to be the "one and only"?
An innate selfishness I presume.
Whether it be the best friend, the best daughter, the best child the best gf or best bf
Its weird.
We want to be everyones "one and only"
Which, by my calculations is simply impossible!
And if we find out we are not
then we cannot help but to feel a tinge of jealousy.
Even if it is jealousy for no reason!
Or maybe its just me.
OR - yes, OR - maybe I would at least like to be called by my own name!! FFS!
Not the name of some other chick you are talking to !
Sheesh! get it straight!

Yes, it is a matter of selfishness. At least in as much as our human nature is quite self-centered. But I also believe that there's a certain amount of spiritual significance to this that goes beyond ourselves as well.
Oh no, did you get called by someone else's name?
An ex boyfriend once called me by the name of his girlfriend before me. I was hurt.
We broke up later, but because he thought he was gay. But I digress.
What would you do if you just had a date with a guy, he was dropping you off at your place and he was about to lean over to hug you when he called you the wrong name? Just say the date went pretty well, at least up until the moment when the unknown name spat out from his mouth.
I was shocked when that happened to me. So shocked that I actually let him touch me when I should have shoved him away.
